The 2LINE G-BOX is the new fibre optic delivery system. True to the slogan "A fresh approach to fibre-optic expansion", our aim with the 2LINE G-BOX is to provide an alternative to existing approaches and procedures for fibre-optic expansion, specifically for network construction work. The three major objectives being pursued with the 2LINE G-BOX are greater speed, simplicity and affordability. This is because the two main goals in the coalition agreement are: 1) Germany-wide coverage via gigabit networks by the end of 2025 2) and connection of all schools, industrial parks and hospitals to the gigabit network. These goals can only be achieved in the current legislative period by breaking new ground in fibre optic expansion.
Installing a fibre optic connection involves unique challenges that come with specific requirements. The delicate optical fibres must be carefully protected to maintain their performance and reliability. Furthermore, it's essential to prevent unauthorized access to communication lines. To meet these demands, Hauff-Technik has developed a multifunctional fibre optic transfer system designed to ensure secure and efficient installation.
The 2LINE G-BOX transfer system from Hauff-Technik employs a modular design, enabling the selection of suitable components tailored to the specific conditions of each installation site. This flexibility is crucial for effectively creating a fibre optic connection.
In addition to the expansion of 5G, fibre optic connections are essential for enhancing broadband internet with high speeds. While 5G can be easily retrofitted thanks to its wireless transmission technology, establishing a fibre optic connection requires the installation of cables. The benefits of a fibre optic connection include reliable performance and high data transfer rates. This has led both owners of existing buildings and new construction projects to choose fibre optics over relying solely on 5G expansion. Businesses, in particular, stand to gain significantly from fibre optic connections.
High data rates are achievable with FTTH (Fibre to the Home), where the light waveguide is installed directly inside the house. This enables a direct connection to the home network, eliminating the need for short distances between the distribution point and the building. Consequently, outdated copper cables, which can drastically reduce transmission speeds, are no longer necessary. Hauff-Technik's solution provides a cost-effective and practical option for integrating fibre optics into homes. The 2LINE G-BOX by Hauff-Technik is the ideal choice for connecting new constructions to the fibre optic network or for supplying existing buildings with high-speed broadband internet. This solution is suitable for both single-family and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and industrial applications.
The base unit of the 2LINE G-BOX series can be utilized in various ways within urban and infrastructure planning. By providing secure above-ground access to optical fibres, this system is ideal for enhancing 5G deployment. It allows for direct connections to 5G or Wi-Fi antennas, which are commonly installed by providers in residential neighbourhoods. Additionally, the 2LINE G-BOX is well-suited for creating measurement points, offering technicians quick and easy access to fibre optic connections. This facilitates fast and efficient signal strength assessments, ultimately improving the overall connectivity and functionality of smart cities.
In Hauff-Technik's 2LINE G-BOX system, the base unit plays a crucial role. This component is installed underground between the distribution box and the house, serving as the connection point for the fibre optic installation.
The fibre optic cable from the distribution box arrives at the base unit, where it connects to the light waveguide that leads into the house. The base unit for the fibre optic connection is buried outdoors, allowing installation in pathways, streets, and grassy areas. Its height is adjustable, enabling a total installation depth of between 500 and 600 mm, accommodating various ground levels. A trafficable version of the base unit with a cast iron lid can support loads of up to 20 tons.
One advantage of Hauff-Technik's system is the tamper-proof lid closure, which can only be opened with a special key, ensuring that the data connection is well protected against unauthorized physical access.
Inside the base unit is the fibre optic termination point, which can accommodate up to six LC/APC pigtails and three LC duplex couplings. This termination point is coupled with a cable slack box, allowing for excess lengths of light waveguides to be neatly stored. As a result, the connection length can be conveniently shortened without any work on the fibre optic cable itself, ensuring that the delicate light waveguides are protected and signal attenuation is prevented.
Finally, the fibre optic termination point within the base unit is sealed with a sealing housing that includes a lid and a fitting. Up to four fibre optic cables can be introduced into the sealing housing, with compatible versions available for cable diameters ranging from 0.5 to 6.0 mm. The installation of the sealing housing ensures that the fibre optic transfer point is completely waterproof and gas-tight, meeting the IP68 standard.
The final segment of the fibre optic transfer system is the connection from the 2LINE G-BOX base unit to the interior of the home. By utilizing an existing conduit, the fibre optic cable can be efficiently routed into the building. Protective ducts are employed to shield the light waveguide from crushing and potential damage. Hauff-Technik also provides appropriate solutions for sealing the building entry point.
The fibre optic house connection is completed with the Hauff-Technik Quick-Connect termination point, specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with the 2LINE G-BOX system. This collaboration enables Hauff-Technik's solution to facilitate the installation of a fibre optic connection that guarantees high data transmission rates in a straightforward and efficient manner.
